FARMINGTON, MINNESOTA – The City of Farmington is bringing back one of its most beloved and lighthearted traditions as part of the annual Top the Tater Days celebration: the “Kiss the Pig” contest. Community members are invited to cast their votes — and their spare change — to determine which local figure will land a smooch on Betty the pig during this year’s festivities.
Voting is now open online at Webtrac.FarmingtonMN.gov, and starting the week of May 19, donation canisters featuring photos of each candidate will also be available at local businesses and city buildings around Farmington. Voters can use either cash at the canisters or credit/debit cards online to support their favorite "challenger kisser."
This year's brave contestants include:
Briana Anderson of Dairy Queen
Matt Price, Farmington Fire Chief
John Moore of Marschall Line
Aimee Schreiber, Children's Librarian
They’ll be trying to out-raise Wendy Boos, the defending kisser, in the race to earn the honor (or perhaps the embarrassment) of planting a kiss on Betty the pig. The “Kiss the Pig” event will take place on Saturday, June 28 at 4 p.m. on the Top the Tater Days stage.
All proceeds from the voting will go to support the Rambling River Center, Farmington’s senior and community center.
While the City of Farmington helps coordinate the fundraiser, it does not organize Top the Tater Days itself. For a full list of celebration events, residents can visit TopTheTaterDays.com.
Will defending kisser Wendy Boos hold her title, or will a new challenger rise to the top? Farmington will decide — one coin (or click) at a time.
