Pedestrian Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries in Crash on I-35W in Burnsville
BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA – A pedestrian was seriously injured Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle on I-35W in Burnsville.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:35 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025, in the southbound lanes of I-35W near the Burnsville Parkway. Preliminary findings indicate that a male pedestrian was in the traffic lanes when he was hit by a vehicle. The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, according to authorities.
The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported for emergency medical treatment. His current condition has not been released.
The crash prompted a full closure of the southbound lanes of I-35W as authorities conducted accident reconstruction and launched an investigation. Traffic was detoured onto Highway 13 during the closure.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Burnsville Police Department, Burnsville Fire Department, and the Minnesota State Patrol. MnDOT reportedly also assisted with road closures.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No additional details, including the identity of the pedestrian or the driver, have been released at this time. Further updates will be provided once more information becomes available.
