Three Arrested Following Armed Robbery in Apple Valley, MN
STORY UPDATE: Apple Valley Armed Robbery Suspects Identified
APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA - Around 10:16 PM on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, officers with the Apple Valley Police Department were dispatched to the 15100 block of Cedar Avenue after a report of an armed robbery had occurred in the area.
According to a press release from the Apple Valley Police Department, three male suspects came up to the victim with a handgun, threatened the victim, and hit them with the handgun. They robbed the victim of their car keys and wallet and then fled the scene. The victim provided police with a vehicle description, and police found a vehicle matching the description traveling northbound on Cedar Avenue.
Officers attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the vehicle continued to flee northbound on Cedar Avenue. During the chase, the vehicle turned off its lights, known as blacking out, before taking the Cliff Road exit from northbound Cedar Avenue. While taking the exit, the vehicle crashed near the intersection of Cliff Road and the northbound on-ramp for Cedar Avenue in Eagan, Minnesota. Following the crash, the three suspects fled the car, and a perimeter was quickly set up with help from the Eagan Police Department and the Burnsville Police Department. A K9 and drone were also called to help search for the suspects. All three suspects were apprehended around 10:38 PM, and a gun was recovered.
According to the press release from the Apple Valley Police Department, the three suspects included a 23-year-old male from Saint Paul, Minnesota, a 38-year-old male from Saint Paul, Minnesota, and a 16-year-old male from Richfield, Minnesota. All three were taken to the Dakota County Jail for aggravated robbery charges.
