Driver Injured in Early Morning Crash on I-35 in Burnsville




BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA – A crash involving a passenger car and a semi-truck caused significant traffic delays on southbound I-35 early Thursday morning, April 17, 2025.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, troopers responded at approximately 4:50 a.m. to a report of a crash near Crystal Lake Road in Burnsville. A Ford Fusion rear-ended a semi-truck, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to the driver of the car. Southbound I-35 was temporarily shut down to allow a Lifelink helicopter to land. However, the air ambulance was not used in the end. The injured driver was transported by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The crash caused significant traffic delays across both I-35W and I-35E during the morning commute. By 7:45 a.m., authorities reported that traffic was flowing normally again in the area. Emergency responders from Burnsville Police, Burnsville Fire Department, Minnesota Department of Transportation’s FIRST, and the State Patrol all assisted at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the State Patrol.
