Brooklyn Park Man Charged with Threats of Violence in Burnsville Assault Incident

BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA—A 29-year-old Brooklyn Park man, Daniel Elijah Ball-Green, has been charged with felony threats of violence following a reported assault in Burnsville on November 21, 2024. According to the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, Ball-Green is accused of threatening a woman with a firearm and physically assaulting her during a confrontation outside her home.

Police were dispatched to the Burnsville residence after receiving a 911 call reporting a physical altercation. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, an adult female, who stated that her adult daughter had been involved in a fight with another woman outside their home. When the victim attempted to intervene, she was allegedly punched and called 911. While on the phone with 911, the victim attempted to get the vehicle license plate number that Ball-Green and the other female fled in. The complaint alleges that Ball-Green exited the vehicle, pointed a black handgun at the victim, and struck her on the head with the weapon, causing her to fall to the ground. The victim was later diagnosed with a concussion at a local hospital.

Officers located Ball-Green at a residence in Bloomington over an hour after the incident and took him into custody. However, the firearm described by the victim was not recovered, and authorities have been unable to determine its whereabouts.

Court records indicate that Ball-Green has prior felony convictions for burglary and theft, rendering him ineligible to possess a firearm. He declined to speak with investigators without legal counsel. The Dakota County Attorney's Office has filed a charge of felony threats of violence against Ball-Green under Minnesota Statute 609.713.1. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.

Ball-Green made his initial court appearance this afternoon, November 22, 2024. Bail was set at $60,000 without conditions or $30,000/$3,000 cash with conditions. When this story was written, Ball-Green did not post bail and remains in custody at Dakota County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing, with police seeking additional information regarding the weapon and Ball-Green’s movements following the incident. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Burnsville Police Department.

This article provides an overview of the allegations against Ball-Green, detailing the charges, evidence, and potential legal outcomes. The community is reminded that charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Further updates on this case will depend on the progress of the legal proceedings.
