Car Fire Reported at Burnsville Residence

BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA - Just after 3:40 PM on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, emergency personnel from the Burnsville Fire Department and Burnsville Police Department, with mutual aid from the Eagan Fire Department, were called out to a residence in the 14500 block of Chateau Lane in Burnsville, Minnesota for a reported car fire. The vehicle was reported to still be in the garage.

While en route to the fire, scanner traffic from crews responding to the fire confirmed seeing a column of smoke, confirming the working fire call. According to the Burnsville Fire Department, when crews got on the scene, they took an offensive attack on the fire and were able to knock down the fire quickly and begin an overhaul. Burnsville Fire confirmed for us that the fire damage was contained to just the interior of the attached garage and that no damage extended into the home's interior. The home's occupants were not displaced due to the fire.

It was reported that the fire started in the car after the owner started the vehicle. The official cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Burnsville Fire Department.
