Domestic Incident at Burnsville Apartment Complex Results in One Arrested, Felony Charge
BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA - Burnsville Police responded to The Woods of Burnsville on Wednesday, July 10th, around 1:15 PM after there were reports of a domestic incident with a possible stabbing.
According to the criminal complaint from the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, the incident began when the victim and Suspect encountered each other at a nearby grocery store. The victim reported that she had recently become romantically involved with a man she met at her apartment complex, only to discover later that the Suspect was married to this man. Following a heated phone argument between the two women, they ran into each other again in the parking lot of their apartment complex. During the second counter, it was reported that the Suspect confronted the victim and a witness with a small, serrated kitchen knife and allegedly chased the victim while making threats. The victim reportedly told law enforcement that she felt terrified and threatened by this behavior.
The suspect was identified as Shamika Turner. Court documents show she was initially facing three felony counts. These include 2nd Degree Assault with a deadly weapon and two felony counts for making terrorist threats. Court records show following the first hearing, Turner is now only facing one felony count of Threats of Violence (Intent to Terrorize).
Her next court hearing is set for August 29, 2024, at 1:30 PM in Hastings, Minnesota.
