Disturbance in Farmington, MN Leads to Shots Fired

FARMINGTON, MINNESOTA - Around 9 PM on Thursday, November 9, 2023, the Farmington Police Department was called out to a disturbance in the 20900 block of Chippendale Ave in Farmington, Minnesota. According to a press release from the Farmington Police Department, numerous callers reported that a handgun was fired at least once during the disturbance. Thankfully, they reported that no one was hit by said gunfire.

Officers quickly arrived on the scene and were able to identify who the person of interest was and the apartment they were reportedly staying in. As the person used a gun and was said to have weapons, the Farmington Police Department requested the South Metro SWAT Team and the Dakota County SWAT Team to assist. Negotiators attempted to talk with the person of interest but were unable to. Eventually, the SWAT teams cleared the apartment around 2 AM and determined that no one was inside.

According to the Farmington Police Department, this incident was a dispute between two people, and there is no threat to the general public. Farmington Police also said they are not seeking the public's help. With this case being an active criminal investigation, they are not releasing additional information on the incident or making further comments.

Additional responding agencies to this incident included the Dakota County Sheriff's Office, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Burnsville Police Department and their Command Center, the South Metro SWAT Team, the Rosemount Police Department, and the South St Paul Police Department.
