Home Depot Kids' Workshops: Building Skills, Fostering Creativity for Free!
APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA—For the last 25 years, Home Depot has offered FREE kids' workshops in stores across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. These workshops are held monthly from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the first Saturday at all Home Depot Stores while supplies last.
These Kids' Workshops are a great way to test their creativity and grow their skill-building, all while learning the importance of safety. During their April workshop, we stopped by the local Apple Valley, Minnesota, Home Depot this afternoon. We learned the Apple Valley Home Depot has one of the biggest turnouts in the upper plains/Midwest, averaging around 700 participants every Saturday.
According to staff, they do everything they can to ensure everything the kids need to complete their kits is right at the table. This includes the supplies and tools. The only thing you might need to bring is the apron you received from your first workshop. These workshops are again FREE, and you get to bring home your finished kit item, get a free Home Depot apron, and each workshop has a special pin. Staff at the store said they love hosting these workshops, especially when they see regulars return with their aprons covered in all the pins from the previous workshops they have attended. The smiles and memories they see from the kids and parents make hosting these events all the more worthwhile!
In addition to kits, families can also download Workshop Extension Activities online, which are tied to the monthly kit. These activities help kids further expand their knowledge and think outside the box.
The upcoming Kids Workshops for May, June, and July include a Blooming Picture Frame, Grill Gift Card Box, and Soccer Game.
