61-Year-Old Motorcyclist Airlifted After Serious Crash in Rosemount
ROSEMOUNT, MINNESOTA – A 61-year-old motorcyclist sustained critical injuries in a crash early Tuesday morning, September 10, in Rosemount. Police were dispatched to the intersection of County Road 42 and Blaine Avenue around 5:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers found the motorcyclist unresponsive after being ejected from his bike. Police immediately provided medical assistance and applied a tourniquet to the man's leg to control severe bleeding. The injured motorcyclist was later airlifted by helicopter to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), where he remains in critical condition.
According to preliminary reports, the motorcyclist was traveling east on County Road 42 and attempted to turn north onto Blaine Avenue. The motorcyclist failed to yield to westbound traffic and was struck by a vehicle driven by a 29-year-old man. The driver of the vehicle, who sustained minor injuries, called 911 to report the crash and cooperated with authorities at the scene. He was treated for his injuries at the scene and released.
In response to the accident, County Road 42 was closed between Akron Avenue and Highway 52 for approximately two hours as police investigated and cleared the area. The Rosemount Police Department received assistance from multiple agencies, including the Minnesota State Highway Patrol, which is conducting an accident reconstruction, and the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, which manages traffic control.
