Motorcyclist Who Was Seriously Injured in Apple Valley Crash Identified, Family Provides an Update
Dakota County, Minnesota—Around 6:20 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024, a family's life was greatly changed after an SUV going westbound on 140th Street in Apple Valley, Minnesota, ran a red light and struck a motorcyclist going southbound on Cedar Avenue, which had a green light. The crash resulted in the motorcyclist suffering from serious injuries and being rushed to a local hospital. You can find the original story here.
This evening, we learned that the motorcyclist is Jon Ameter, a husband and father of two young girls. We have received a few messages from Jon Ameter's friends and family and have also seen an outpouring of posts across social media speaking fondly about him. We have learned from family members that Jon continues to make slow but positive steps in his recovery efforts but that he still has a long road ahead of him. They reported that he could squeeze family members' hands and open his eyes briefly. He has surgery planned for tomorrow (Wednesday, May 15th). The family asks to please continue to keep Jon and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help support Jon’s recovery efforts and the family during this long road to recovery. You can find a link to GoFundMe below. The Celts Rub of Inver Grove Heights is also helping raise money for the family by selling ceiling tiles you can take home, decorate, and bring back to be permanently placed into their ceiling. The ceiling tiles cost $50 at a minimum, and all proceeds will go to the Ameter Family. You can read more about that in the flier below.
