Celebration of life for Kenneth Sperle and recognizing the heroes who saved his life

The Mendota Heights Police Department made a statement on their Facebook page, asking friends, family, and the community to come together at City Hall on Thursday, March 23rd, at 2:00 PM to help celebrate the life of Kenneth Sperle and the heroes who came together to help save him.

According to a Facebook post from the Mendota Heights Police Department, on December 11, 2022, Kenneth Sperle was exercising at Anytime Fitness in Mendota Heights, Minnesota. He went into cardiac arrest and became unconscious around 5:47 AM. Daniel Goodstein, who was also at the gym at the time, sprung into action and immediately began performing CPR in the form of life-saving chest compressions after grabbing the AED and applying the pads of the AED to Kenneth Sperle's chest.

Another gym patron, Yohuru Williams, assisted in giving emergency personnel quick access to the gym, with Mendota Heights Officers Eric Wagman, Dan Iverson, and Jared Powell arriving to continue to provide life-saving measures on Kenneth Sperle. Once Officer Wagman was on the scene, he observed the AED analyzing Kenneth's heart and advising them to initiate a shock. A shock was delivered, with Officer Wagman then taking over, giving chest compressions from Mr. Goodstein. The three officers continued to provide life-saving measures for Kenneth Sperle. After five minutes, Mr. Sperle began to breathe and regained a pulse.
