UPDATED: House Fire on Kittiwake Circle, Eagan, MN

EAGAN, MINNESOTA - Around 10:11 AM on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, a call came into the Dakota County Dispatch for a confirmed house fire on Kittiwake Circle in Eagan, Minnesota. The fire was reported to be coming from the back of the home. Mutual aid was called in from the Burnsville Fire Department, Apple Valley Fire Department, South Metro Fire Department, and Inver Grove Heights Fire Department.

Around 10:14 AM, the first fire units arrived on the scene and confirmed a working fire in the front and back of the home. The smoke plume from this fire could be seen all across the area as a thick black plume of smoke was visible. Based on scanner traffic, an offensive attack on the fire was chosen. By 10:22 AM, the attack plan was changed to a defensive attack on the fire. The fire response resulted in Duckwood Drive being closed down temporarily between Widgeon Way and Duckwood Trail.

Fire crews were able to quickly knock the fire down on the back of the home around 10:34 AM, according to scanner traffic. Crews continued to deal with fire from inside the home, and according to scanner traffic, there might have been a partial floor collapse in the northwest corner of the home. The fire was said to be officially out by 11:13 AM.

Eagan Fire Chief Hugo Searle has confirmed that there were no injuries due to the fire, and no one was home at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, as the fire caused extensive damage to the home. The estimated cost of damages to the home was not readily available.
