Local Police Activity and Emergency Incidents: December 27 - 31, 2024

APPLE VALLEY and EAGAN, MINNESOTA — In the past week, we got tips from community members about four incidents in Eagan and Apple Valley, Minnesota. We appreciate the community's help in keeping everyone informed. Below are the latest updates on four incidents over the last week.

Apple Valley Transit Station Incident: On December 27, 2024, Apple Valley police responded to a disorderly conduct call involving two individuals who had been previously trespassed from the Apple Valley Transit Station. The same individuals were reported fighting in a nearby parking lot shortly after being removed. Police found at least one individual back on the transit station property, resulting in an arrest to prevent further incidents. The suspect resisted as officers attempted to place handcuffs, prompting backup to assist. No further resistance occurred. Both individuals were ticketed for trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Kelley Park Disturbance - Apple Valley: On January 2, 2025, at 9:21 PM, police were called to Kelley Park in Apple Valley following reports of a physical altercation involving over 20 individuals. Upon arrival, officers observed a large group of juveniles fleeing in different directions. Some were stopped in the parking lot for questioning but were uncooperative. One juvenile had visible facial swelling but declined to provide any information about the altercation. No arrests were made, and the case has been marked inactive.

Disorderly Incident at Bruegger’s Bagels in Eagan: Eagan police addressed a concerning situation on December 31, 2024, involving a 39-year-old intoxicated man who had been at the Eagan Tobacco Shop before creating a disturbance at Coles Salon. The individual attempted to gain access behind the salon’s front counter and became disorderly when denied service. He directed profanities at staff and made a threatening gun gesture toward them. Officers arrested the man in the parking lot. Due to his intoxicated state and threats of self-harm, he was transported to Regions Hospital for evaluation. He faces charges of fourth-degree assault, obstruction, and disorderly conduct.

Aspenwoods Apartments Fire in Eagan: Later that evening, at 11:06 PM, Eagan Fire and Police departments, with mutual aid from Burnsville Fire, responded to a report of a potential structure fire at Aspenwoods Apartments on Duckwood Trail. Emergency personnel arrived within three minutes and quickly determined that the fire was confined to a stove in one of the apartments. The fire was extinguished without incident, and mutual aid was canceled. Crews cleared the scene by 11:50 PM. No injuries were reported.
