Coordinated Rescue Operation Saves Woman from River Plunge

EAGAN, MINNESOTA—At approximately 1:35 PM on Monday, July 22, 2024, multiple calls came into 911 Dispatch about a person jumping off the Cedar Avenue bridge into the Minnesota River. This led to a coordinated response from various local agencies to assist the State Patrol in the rescue operation.
According to officials with the Eagan Police Department, emergency personnel from the Burnsville Fire Department, Bloomington Fire Department, Eagan Fire Department, Mendota Heights Police Department, Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Bloomington Police Department, Burnsville Fire Department, South Metro Fire, Farmington Fire Department, Eagan Police Department, and Minnesota State Patrol were dispatched to the scene. Burnsville Fire launched their boat from Casperson Landing and successfully located the female alive in the water.
Eagan officials confirmed that first responders and medics at the scene treated the woman, who was then transported to Fairview Ridges for further medical care. Remarkably, she was able to get off the rescue boat on her own to meet with first responders and medics.
