FARMINGTON, MINNESOTA - A 70-year-old Farmington woman was reported missing late Friday morning but was safely located after an extensive search effort involving multiple area emergency agencies.
The woman, whose name was not provided, was reported to have dementia and Alzheimer’s. She was reportedly last seen around 11:30 AM near 199th Street and Deerbrooke Path in Farmington after leaving for a walk. Concerned for her safety, authorities initiated a widespread search operation. At approximately 1:21 PM, the Farmington Fire Department was called to assist Farmington police officers in the search. By 1:35 PM, additional support was requested from the Lakeville Fire Department.
As the search progressed, it was decided to make a call for the Dakota County Special Operations Team (SOT) to be deployed around 3:18 PM to aid in locating the missing woman. By 3:53 PM, an all-call was also made for additional personnel assistance from the Rosemount, Apple Valley, and Northfield Fire Departments, with the incident command location at the Bible Baptist Church located on Akin Road for all units to meet and put together a game plan for search operations. While crews were called out and meeting up at the Chruch, Officers from the Farmington and Lakeville Police Departments and K9 units worked alongside the Minnesota State Patrol Air Patrol to thoroughly search the surrounding areas.
At 4:22 PM, an Everbridge alert was sent out to residents in the vicinity where the woman was last seen. This alert reportedly led to a few possible sightings of the woman, which law enforcement began to look into.
Around 4:30 PM, there were unconfirmed reports that the woman might have been found while crews were meeting at the Church. Shortly after, at 4:37 PM, authorities confirmed that the woman had been found safe, and everyone was cleared to leave the scene.
