EAGAN, MINNESOTA—A theft incident at the Nike store located at 3905 Eagan Outlets Parkway in the Outlet Mall escalated into a high-speed chase on Thursday afternoon, January 9, 2025, culminating in the arrest of a suspected 15-year-old teen.

Eagan officials said they received a call about a theft at the store around 1:58 p.m., prompting officers to respond to the scene. The suspect fled the store and escaped in a vehicle, heading northbound on Highway 13. The pursuit continued east on Yankee Doodle Road from Highway 13 before eventually going northbound on I-35E. During the chase, authorities discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen out of St. Paul, Minnesota.

The pursuit took a dramatic turn when the suspect fled the vehicle while it was still moving just north of Mendota Heights Road as it began to smoke. Assistance was called in from Minnesota State Patrol and Mendota Heights Police Department.

The suspect has been tentatively identified as a 15-year-old male. Following his arrest, he reported experiencing shortness of breath and was transported to Fairview Ridges Hospital for medical evaluation. Once cleared, he is expected to be taken to the Dakota County Juvenile Detention Center where he is expected to receive charges for felony theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, and fleeing police in a motor vehicle.
