Man Sentenced to 18 Years in Prison for Criminal Sexual Conduct in Dakota County
INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA — On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, a Dakota County man was sentenced to 18 years in prison following his conviction for first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a minor in December 2023. He was also sentenced to 12 years for a second sexual assault case in March 2020. In both cases, he took an Alford plea of guilt.
Gafer Oriyomi Adebayo, 28, of Burnsville, Minnesota, was convicted of felony charges related to the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl between December 4 and December 11, 2023. According to court records from the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, Adebayo arranged for a ride-share driver to transport the victim to his residence in Inver Grove Heights, where she remained for eight days. During that time, Adebayo, then 27, engaged in repeated sexual intercourse with the minor, fully aware of her age. When police arrived at his home on December 11, the victim was found attempting to flee the residence, partially unclothed. Adebayo was convicted of Felony 1st Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct (Victim under 14 years old, but more than 36 months old). He was given a sentence of 216 months (18 years) with credit for 416 days. Conditional release after confinement has been set at 99 years.
Court records also state that Adebayo pleaded guilty and was convicted for a separate case of first-degree criminal sexual conduct - penetration/contact - injury - use of force/coerce. A second third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge was dismissed per the plea agreement. This second case occurred back in March of 2020. In that case, he was sentenced to 144 months (12 years) in prison for using force and coercion to assault an adult victim, with 418 days credit for time served. Conditional release after confinement has been set at 10 years.
He will serve both sentences concurrently at the Minnesota Correctional Facility - St Cloud. Adebayo is also required to register as a predatory offender for life.
