Shelter in Place for Roseville, Minnesota - Suspect has been arrested

According to a press release from the City of Roseville, police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Ryan Avenue West for an assault in progress. A caller in the residence was reporting a 17-year-old male family member was attacking others in the home with a weapon. The 17-year-old then fled the home on foot. When officers arrived on the scene, they set up a perimeter in the neighborhood the assault occurred.

The Ramsey County Emergency Communications Center then sent out a shelter-in-place alert that was intended for the immediate neighborhood the incident occurred, but that alert was instead accidentally sent to a larger area. The initial incident area was supposed to be from Larpenteur Avenue to Highway 36 and Victoria Street to Snelling Avenue in Roseville, Minnesota. 911 operators later received a call from someone who received the shelter-in-place alert and called 911 after seeing a juvenile male without shoes running westward towards the State Fairgrounds. This was passed on to the St Paul Police, and they located the suspect near the intersection of Snelling Avenue and Como Avenue.
