LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA - The Lakeville Police Department has confirmed that they received a report that the Wells Fargo Bank received a bomb threat around 9 AM this morning, which led to the closure of Kenyon Avenue in Lakeville early Friday morning, as police and fire personnel responded to the Wells Fargo Bank on Kenyon Avenue in Lakeville, Minnesota this morning.

Lakeville Police and Fire departments were dispatched to the bank in response to the potential bomb threat, authorities swiftly closed off Kenyon Avenue at 172nd Street. Nearby businesses were evacuated to ensure public safety, with the exception of Summit Orthopedics, which was deemed far enough from the site of concern to be safely used as a staging area for emergency responders and remain open to patients.

By approximately 10:00 AM, the Bloomington Bomb Squad and the Metro Transit Police Department’s Bomb Detection K-9 were called to the scene to help assess the situation. According to the Lakeville Police Department, following a comprehensive sweep, no suspicious items were located. Their thorough investigation allowed law enforcement to safely clear the scene by 10:30 AM. Shortly after, the bomb squad departed, and police reopened Kenyon Avenue and surrounding businesses by around 10:35 AM.

An investigation into the origin of the bomb threat is still ongoing, but there is no active threat to public safety, according to the Lakeville Police Department.
