Rockford Police are asking for the public's help identifying a suspect involved in a deadly robbery in Rockford, Illinois

According to the Rockford Police Department, on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, around 3:20 PM, an armed robbery occurred at the Pinnon's located at 2324 N. Court Street in Rockford, Illinois. During the robbery, shots were fired.

When the Rockford Police Department arrived at the scene, officers found a 63-year-old female lying at the bottom of the stairs that were going to the apartments above the business. The 63-year-old female was later identified as Peggy Anderson. Anderson was rushed to a local hospital where she, unfortunately, died from her injuries. According to officers, Anderson was robbed of her belongings as she was walking down the stairs from the apartments. During the altercation, Anderson was shot in the chest.

The armed robbery suspect was identified by police as a black male with a slender build, wearing a black mask, gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black pants. After the robbery and shooting, the suspect fled the area in Anderson's car. The car was later found unoccupied a short time later in the 2000 block of Douglas.
