Fatal Crash Under Investigation in Burnsville, Minnesota

UPDATE: According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Volvo S60 was traveling northbound on I-35E when it left the roadway into the ditch, struck a sign and fence, and then went over the guardrail before coming to rest underneath the overpass for I-35E on the north side of County Road 11. The vehicle was said to be driven by a 68-year-old man from Burnsville, Minnesota, who was also the vehicle's sole occupant.
Authorities have identified the victim in this crash as 68-year-old Joseph Bluemke. Minnesota State Patrol reports he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and no alcohol was involved. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the initial investigation into the cause of the crash is suspected to be tied to a possible medical issued.

ORIGINAL STORY - BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA – The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Burnsville early Sunday morning, March 16, 2025. Emergency responders, including Burnsville Fire, Apple Valley Fire, Burnsville Police, Apple Valley Police, and the Minnesota State Patrol, were dispatched to the scene at County Road 11 and northbound Interstate 35E at approximately 9:39 AM.
Authorities have confirmed that the accident was a single-vehicle, single-occupant accident that resulted in one fatality. Minnesota State Patrol is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash. Officials have not disclosed whether speed, impairment, or other factors contributed to the accident.
