Bomb Threat at Lakeville Walmart Leads to Evacuation and Investigation
LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA - A reported bomb threat prompted the evacuation of a Lakeville Walmart on Sunday evening as authorities conducted a thorough investigation.
According to Lakeville Police Chief Bradley Paulson, officers responded to Walmart at 20710 Keokuk Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2025, after store employees received a phone call warning of a potential explosive device inside the store. Out of an abundance of caution, all customers and staff were evacuated while law enforcement assessed the situation. Lakeville Fire Department was also called to the scene out of caution.
Explosive detection K-9 teams from both the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office and the Airport Police Department were deployed to conduct a comprehensive search of the premises. After an extensive investigation, authorities confirmed that no explosive devices or other threats were found inside the store.
The origin of the phone call and the motive behind the threat remain under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Lakeville Police Department.
Normal operations at Walmart resumed following the all-clear from law enforcement. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
As the investigation continues, police remind residents to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to authorities.
