Dakota County Authorities Arrest Fugitive Wanted for Iowa Murder

DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA – A first-degree murder suspect from Iowa was arrested in Dakota County, Minnesota, according to court documents and law enforcement reports.

On March 27, 2025, U.S. Marshals took 19-year-old Nashawn Kobina Joseph Green into custody in Dakota County, Minnesota. Green was apprehended on two active warrants issued in Iowa—one for first-degree murder and another for theft. Authorities confirmed that Iowa officials plan to extradite him.

Green’s arrest stems from a fatal shooting that took place on January 18, 2025, in Ames, Iowa. According to WCCI Des Moines, Ames Police Officers responded to a shooting incident at an apartment on South 5th Street around 6:30 p.m. The victim, 25-year-old Parker L. Stoneburner of Boone, Iowa, was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Green is the fourth suspect arrested in connection with the case. According to WCCI Des Moines, authorities charged three other individuals—Destiny Skurdal, Zoe Anderson, and Abraham Guhnics—with murder.

Following the arrest in Minnesota, Green was booked into the Dakota County Jail in Hastings, Minnesota. Minnesota law (Minn. Stat. § 629.15) allows authorities to detain a fugitive for up to 30 days while awaiting extradition proceedings. Green is being held without bail at the Dakota County Jail until his next hearing on April 7, 2025. Court records show that Green signed a waiver for his extradition on March 28, 2025.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities continue to piece together the events leading up to the fatal shooting. Green is expected to face formal extradition proceedings before being transferred to Iowa to face charges.

More updates will follow as the case develops.
