Minnesota DNR Schedules Two Online Auctions for Confiscated Fishing and Hunting Equipment

MINNESOTA - The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has announced two upcoming public auctions of confiscated fishing, hunting, and trapping equipment. The auctions, which will be held online, are scheduled for August 26 and October 7. These events will feature equipment seized following serious game and fish violations.

Key Dates and Details:

  • Equipment Lists: Approximately one month before each auction, a list of available items will be posted on the Hiller Auction Service website.

  • Bidding Catalogs: Detailed catalogs, including descriptions and photos of each item, will be available online on August 22 for the first auction and October 3 for the second.

  • Online Bidding: Bidding will commence on August 23 for the first auction and October 4 for the second.

  • Onsite Inspection: Potential bidders can inspect items in person at Hiller Auction Service, located at 10785 261st Avenue, Zimmerman, MN, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on August 23 and October 4.

Auction Closing:

  • First Auction: Begins closing at 5 p.m. on August 26.

  • Second Auction: Begins closing at 5 p.m. on October 7.

  • Closing Format: Items will close one per minute in a staggered format. Bidding will extend if there is a bid within the final three minutes, continuing until no bids are received for three minutes. Extended bidding for an item does not affect the closing times of other items.

Purchase and Pickup:

  • Invoicing: Winning bidders will receive an invoice after the auction concludes.

  • Pickup Location: Items must be collected from Hiller Auction Service in Zimmerman, MN.

  • Firearms: Buyers of firearms must pass a federal background check in person when paying for and collecting their items at the auction location.

Additional Information:

  • All equipment is sold as-is, with no returns accepted. This includes all defects or faults, whether known or unknown.

  • Revenue generated from these auctions will be directed to the Game and Fish Fund, the DNR’s primary fund for fish and wildlife management and law enforcement.

These auctions allow the public to purchase quality outdoor equipment while supporting the Minnesota DNR's conservation efforts.
