Early Morning Second-Alarm Fire in Eagan, All Residents Escape Safely

EAGAN, MINNESOTA—On Tuesday, an early morning fire broke out in the 4700 block of Oak Cliff Drive in Eagan, Minnesota, leading to a second-alarm response from multiple fire departments in the surrounding area. The blaze, which began in the garage of a single-family home, was reported at around 2:45 AM.

Firefighters from the Eagan and Burnsville Fire Departments were the first to respond, arriving on the scene within five minutes. Upon arrival, crews confirmed a working fire with defensive conditions inside the garage. Despite initial efforts, the flames quickly spread to the second floor and the front of the home. Around 3:00 AM, the fire was upgraded to a second alarm, prompting additional mutual aid from South Metro, Apple Valley, and Inver Grove Heights Fire Departments. Firefighters continued their defensive attack until approximately 3:30 AM when they shifted to an offensive approach as conditions allowed.

By 3:50 AM, the fire was reported under control, and by 4:22 AM, the fire was officially marked as out. Mutual aid units were gradually dismissed from the scene, with all but an Eagan Fire Chief cleared by around 5:50 AM.

Fortunately, all the residents of the home managed to escape unharmed. According to neighbors, the father was still awake and working on a computer when he noticed the fire. He quickly woke his wife and son, and they safely exited the house together.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, though initial reports suggest it started in the garage. The Eagan Fire Department is expected to release more information as the investigation continues.

This developing story will be updated as more details become available.
