Rosemount Police Assist in Arrest of Armed Robbery Suspect

ROSEMOUNT, MINNESOTA — The Rosemount Police Department announced that, in coordination with the Saint Paul Police Homicide and Robbery Unit and the South Metro SWAT team, they assisted in the apprehension of a suspect linked to multiple armed robberies, including one that occurred in Rosemount early Wednesday morning.

According to the Rosemount Police Department, at approximately 6:38 a.m. on March 6, 2025, Rosemount officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Shannon Glen Townhomes, located at 14500 Shannon Parkway in Rosemount, Minnesota. The victim reported that a male suspect approached him from behind, pointed a firearm at his face, and forced him to transfer money via a mobile payment app. The suspect, described as a Black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and face mask, then fled the scene on foot.

Additional law enforcement quickly established a perimeter, and a Dakota County Sheriff K9 unit was deployed to track the suspect. However, the individual was not immediately located. Through investigative efforts, Rosemount Detectives identified the suspect in this case as 24-year-old James Brock Williams.

Rosemount Police discovered Williams had an active warrant for 1st Degree Aggravated Robbery issued in Ramsey County. Williams was also on federal probation for Conspiracy to Commit a Violent Crime and on probation in Hennepin County for 1st Degree Robbery.

At approximately 9:27 a.m., the South Metro SWAT team executed an arrest warrant at a residence located at 3766 145th St. West in the Rosemount Greens townhome community on behalf of the Saint Paul Police Department. Williams was located at the residence and was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search of the property led to the discovery of evidence that was believed to be connected to the morning’s robbery.

The distance from where the armed robbery occurred and where the arrest warrant was executed was around 1,000 feet, according to Google Maps.

According to the Rosemount Police Department, the investigation remains ongoing; however, there is no known threat to public safety.
