Emergency Personnel Responded to Two Separate Injury Crashes in Apple Valley on Wednesday

APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA—Two separate injury crashes occurred in Apple Valley on Wednesday, January 29th, resulting in multiple injuries and significant vehicle and property damage. According to reports from the Apple Valley Police Department, both incidents remain under investigation.

Morning Crash at Pennock Avenue and 140th Street West

The first crash occurred around 11:36 AM at the intersection of Pennock Avenue and 140th Street West. According to Apple Valley Police, witnesses reported that a vehicle traveling westbound on 140th Street ran a red light and entered the intersection, T-Boning a northbound vehicle on Pennock Avenue with the right of way in the front passenger corner of the vehicle.

Authorities reported that the vehicle running the red light struck the front passenger side of the northbound car. The driver of the at-fault vehicle was cited for failing to obey a traffic control device. Emergency responders transported two individuals from the scene with unknown injuries. Further details regarding their condition have not been disclosed. Apple Valley Police, Apple Valley Fire, Burnsville Medics, and Allina Health responded to the crash.

Evening Crash at 155th Street West and Eagle Bay Drive

A second crash occurred later in the evening at approximately 6:54 PM at the intersection of 155th Street West and Eagle Bay Drive. This collision involved a 2017 Hyundai Sonata and a 2024 Toyota 4Runner.

Reports from the Apple Valley Police Department indicate that the Hyundai was traveling northbound on Eagle Bay Drive and attempted to turn left onto westbound 155th Street West. However, the driver failed to yield to cross traffic, pulling directly in front of the Toyota. The Toyota then struck the passenger side of the Hyundai, causing the Hyundai to veer off the road. The vehicle continued onto a grassy area, crashed through a wooden fence, and collided with a residence in the 15000 block of Eagle Bay Way.

Following the impact, the Toyota rolled onto its driver’s side and came to rest in the intersection. The driver of the Hyundai sustained undisclosed injuries and was transported by medics. The driver of the Toyota chipped a tooth and was also transported for further medical evaluation. Authorities cited the driver of the Hyundai for failing to yield the right of way.

Apple Valley Police, Apple Valley Fire, Rosemount Fire, and Allina Health medics responded to the evening crash.

No alcohol or drug impairment was suspected in either incident.
