Burnsville Man Charged with Felony Vehicle Theft and Fleeing Police After Stealing Vehicle From Local Hospital
BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA – A Burnsville man has been charged with felony theft of a motor vehicle and felony fleeing a peace officer after allegedly stealing a car outside Fairview Ridges Hospital and leading police on a high-speed chase.
According to court documents from the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, Kevin Eugene Bradt, 36, was arrested on February 3, 2025, after police tracked the stolen vehicle using GPS and observed him attempting to evade law enforcement. He is being held on $25,000 bail without conditions or $10,000 with specific release conditions.
Incident Details
According to the criminal complaint, the Burnsville Police Department responded to a report of a stolen white Ford Edge at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, Minnesota. The victim, who had left his vehicle running while assisting his wife inside the emergency room, returned to find it missing. He and officers were able to track the vehicle to a nearby parking lot using the Ford app.
The complaint states that security footage from the hospital showed a suspect, later identified as Bradt, wearing a green sweatshirt and black jacket, entering the vehicle and driving away. When officers located the car and attempted a traffic stop, Bradt allegedly fled at a high rate of speed, driving over grass and a sidewalk to reach County Road 42 before turning off the vehicle’s lights in an apparent attempt to evade pursuit.
The vehicle and suspect were later located by Apple Valley police, and Bradt was taken into custody without further incident.
Charges and Criminal History
Bradt now faces two felony charges:
Count 1: Felony Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Minnesota Statute 609.52.2(a)(1)), carrying a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
Count 2: Felony Fleeing a Peace Officer in a Motor Vehicle (Minnesota Statute 609.487.3), which carries a maximum penalty of three years and one day in prison and/or a fine up to $5,000.
According to court documents, Bradt has a prior conviction for 1st-degree burglary in Washington County and multiple non-felony offenses.
Bail and Court Conditions
Officials with the Dakota County Attorney’s Office requested bail be set at $60,000 without conditions or $40,000 with the following conditions. Bail was ultimately set at $25,000 bail without conditions or $10,000 with specific release conditions. Record records show that bail has not been set, and he remains in custody at the Dakota County Jail. Bradt’s next court appearance is March 13, 2025, at 1:30 PM in Hastings, Minnesota.
