Wanted Individual Apprehended in Woodbury, No Danger to the Community
WOODBURY, MINNESOTA— Details are fluid at this hour as the investigation into this incident is ongoing, but officials with the Woodbury Police Department were able to confirm for us that law enforcement officers in Woodbury, Minnesota, have successfully apprehended a wanted individual Monday afternoon, March 31, 2025. According to officials, the individual was taken into custody in the area of Woodlane Drive and Courtly Road. Authorities have confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the community, though a police presence remains in the area as the investigation continues.
Incident Timeline
Before 2 p.m. this afternoon, reports emerged of significant police activity along Courtly Road between Lake Road and Woodland Drive. Law enforcement officials were searching for an individual who had been known to have carried a firearm in the past. We were told that nearby schools were put on lockdown out of an abundance of caution, one of which was Woodbury High School, located at 2664 Woodlane Drive.
Around 2:35 PM, Woodbury Police confirmed that the wanted individual had been taken into custody near the intersection of Woodlane Drive and Courtly Road. Authorities reassured residents that there was no longer any danger to the public.
We were informed that an email was sent out by Woodbury High School officials stating that this afternoon, staff had received information that a student might have had a gun on school grounds. According to the email, staff and a school resource officer quickly found the student, and as the student was being escorted, he fled the school and school grounds. The school was then put on lockdown, and additional law enforcement was called to assist in finding the individual.
We are working to 100% confirm with Woodbury officials that the potentially armed individual they were looking for in the area might have been the student who fled the school. Due to the ongoing investigation, we have not received a confirmation yet, but once we get that, we will update this story. The nature of the charges against the suspect has not been disclosed, and police have not yet released additional details regarding the circumstances of the apprehension due to the ongoing investigation.
