Updated April 23, 2025 at 4 PM.

BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA – The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will close I-35W in both directions from the I-494 and I-35W interchange in Bloomington to the I-35 split in Burnsville. According to MnDOT, the closure is for bridge demolition work on the Burnsville Parkway and Highway 13 bridges in Burnsville, which is part of the $80 million infrastructure project we wrote about a week ago. You can find that story here: Major I-35W Reconstruction Project Begins in Burnsville.

Detour Route

The recommended detour for this road closure is taking I-35E to Highway 77 (Cedar Avenue), and then taking northbound Highway 77 to I-494.
