Red Wing Fire Department Conducts Technical Rescue at He Mni Can-Barn Bluff
RED WING, MINNESOTA - The Red Wing Fire Department successfully executed a technical rescue operation on He Mni Can-Barn Bluff after receiving a distress call at 10:28 a.m. regarding two individuals stranded off the designated walking trail.
According to the Red Wing Fire Department, firefighter-paramedics arrived at the scene within two minutes of dispatch and immediately began ascending the bluff to locate the stranded individuals. Utilizing a first responder drone, rescuers identified the hikers’ exact location. The technical rescue operation lasted approximately one hour before both individuals were safely reached and transported back to ground level.
According to officials, the rescue effort involved extensive coordination and multiple emergency response units, including one fire engine, three ambulances, one brush truck, one drone, and two chief officers from the Red Wing Fire Department. Additional support was provided by the Red Wing Police Department, Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol Air Rescue Team, and Red Wing Public Works. Ellsworth Ambulance assisted in covering emergency ambulance services for the city during the response.
While the rescue operation was underway, the Red Wing Fire Department simultaneously responded to another emergency call, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining public safety.
